IPBA Set to Launch Pro Boxing League
The Indian Professional Boxing Association (IPBA), as part of its mission to promote and develop the sport across the country, announced that it will be launching a first-of-its-kind, franchise-based boxing league called the Pro Boxing League (PBL)
The league will feature some of the best professional boxing talent from India and around the world. The inaugural season will consist of six teams competing in a round-robin format.
“This is a landmark moment for India and Indian boxing. Boxing is one of the world’s most popular sports, and India has been making steady progress in the sport over the past few years. This strengthens our belief that now is the right time to take the next step and launch a professional boxing league in India. We are confident that the Pro Boxing League will be a game-changer for Indian boxing by providing boxers with a platform to compete against some of the best athletes in the world and showcase their talent. The PBL will be a world-class product,” said Shahe Ali, President of the Indian Professional Boxing Association.
“We are currently in the process of securing sponsors and franchise owners for the league. We will formally announce the launch once the franchise agreements have been finalized,” he added.
