In a city defined by its vibrant political culture and diverse electorate, young leaders are emerging as catalysts of transformation and social progress. Among them, Umang Mittal has carved a unique identity — a blend of academic accomplishment, grassroots commitment, and a vision rooted in unity and national development. Born on March 12, 1996, Mittal represents a new generation of leaders redefining civic engagement in the national capital.
Residing in Rajdhani Enclave, Delhi, and originally hailing from Narwana, District Jind, Haryana, Mittal’s journey reflects both metropolitan exposure and deep cultural roots. His education and professional experiences have given him a broad, well-rounded perspective on leadership, entrepreneurship, and governance.
A former student of Rising Star Academy, Mittal went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies (VIPS), Delhi, graduating with honors in 2017. His pursuit of higher learning led him to complete an MBA from Amity University, Noida (Sector-125), followed by a Professional Diamond Grading Certification from the International Gemological Institute (IGI) in Karol Bagh, Delhi, where he topped his batch.
Driven by a passion for continuous growth, Mittal is currently pursuing a degree in Law, aiming to deepen his understanding of legal systems and policymaking — a foundation he considers essential for effective governance.
Academic Excellence, UPSC Aspirations, and Entry into Politics
Before dedicating himself fully to politics, Mittal twice attempted the UPSC Civil Services Examination for the IAS/IPS, a dream shared by countless aspirants seeking to serve the nation through administration. Although he did not clear the exam, the experience, he says, strengthened his resilience, broadened his worldview, and reaffirmed his resolve to work directly for the people through politics.
His political journey began in 2018, when he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) — inspired by the leadership and vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and K. Annamalai. Their commitment to discipline, nationalism, and people-first governance continues to guide his approach to public life.
Initially starting as a volunteer, Mittal’s consistency, dedication, and organizational discipline soon saw him rise within the party ranks. In 2024, he was elected as the General Secretary of the Yuva Morcha, Kohat Mandal, Jila Keshav Puram (Delhi Pradesh) — marking a new phase of active leadership.
Since assuming this post, Mittal has worked closely with district, state, and national teams of the BJP, handling youth coordination, event organization, and outreach campaigns that align with the party’s developmental goals.
Championing Grassroots Mobilization and Viksit Bharat
Over the past few years, Mittal has become an influential youth voice within the BJP Yuva Morcha, known for his ability to mobilize young volunteers and connect them with the party’s mission of national reconstruction. His fieldwork spans five Assembly constituencies in Delhi, where he has played key roles in election coordination, volunteer training, and booth-level management.
During the 2024 Lok Sabha and 2025 Delhi Vidhan Sabha elections, Mittal served as the booth president of his home booth — supervising on-ground activities and ensuring smooth electoral participation. His work continues at the micro-level, reinforcing the BJP’s grassroots strength.
His initiatives extend beyond electoral politics. Mittal is actively engaged in promoting national campaigns like ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India), with a focus on encouraging youth entrepreneurship, skill development, and civic responsibility.
Recognizing the importance of inclusivity, he has also undertaken the task of preparing community outreach lists of Bihari residents living in Delhi, facilitating their engagement with BJP activities and strengthening their connection with the city’s political ecosystem.
Connecting Youth Through Events and Civic Engagement
Mittal’s commitment to youth engagement is visible through his active participation in several public and cultural initiatives. He played a leading role in the ‘NaMo Yuva Run’, a flagship event of the BJP State Yuva Morcha designed to promote fitness, patriotism, and youth activism.
As part of his organizational duties, he represented Yuva Morcha Keshav Puram District during the Delhi University (DUSU-ABVP) elections, helping coordinate student campaigns and mentorship programs.
His patriotic involvement extends to public movements — he played a major role in the ‘Tiranga Yatra’ on 15th August, representing the youth wing of his district, and was a participant in the Mock Parliament Session held in Delhi on June 27, 2025, which brought together youth leaders from across India to debate governance and social issues.
Mittal also organized Yoga Day celebrations in his district, motivating young participants to adopt a healthier lifestyle and spreading awareness on the importance of fitness and mindfulness.
Balancing Entrepreneurship and Public Service
Even while managing his growing political responsibilities, Mittal remains closely involved in his family’s footwear business, gaining real-world insights into entrepreneurship and local commerce. This combination of business experience and community work gives him a grounded perspective on economic challenges faced by small enterprises and working families.
Influenced by the visionary leadership of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah Ji, and K. Annamalai, Mittal believes in politics rooted in service, discipline, and unity. “Politics is not about power—it’s about purpose,” he says, emphasizing his belief in participatory democracy and self-reliant growth.
The Road Ahead
At just 29, Umang Mittal has emerged as a promising youth leader bridging the gap between party ideology and public needs. With his strong academic foundation, social awareness, and unwavering dedication, he continues to inspire Delhi’s youth to contribute meaningfully to India’s development.
As he works tirelessly to strengthen the BJP’s presence at the grassroots level, Mittal remains steadfast in his mission — to build a united, self-reliant, and progressive Delhi, reflective of a Viksit Bharat.
